Al-Mawarid bank believes that companies have a duty to their community. We place great importance on corporate social responsibility and, for 20 years, financially supported many NGO-driven community development projects. By 2000, these ad-hoc donations were harnessed into one structured entity of corporate community support that we called The Partnership Program.

The Partnership Program’s first major project saw Al-Mawarid join forces with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which since 2000, has been setting up Technology Access Centers (TACs) for young people in South Lebanon. Al-Mawarid understands the crucial role that young people play in the human development process and have gladly sponsored two TACs in the southern villages of Hasbaya and Shebaa. The centers are equipped with computers, printers, and software libraries, teach computer literacy and offer important Internet access to those who, in other circumstances, might not be so lucky. Today, these young people can, with the flick of a switch, take their place in global community. Since then, Al-Mawarid has deliberately sought to sponsor community-based projects in those parts of the country in which it operates. Each year, our branch managers are asked to nominate those initiatives they consider worthy of our support.

Elsewhere, Al-Mawarid now sponsors such high-profile sporting events such as the Beirut Tennis Championships and the Beirut Marathon as well as environmental causes, such as the preservation of the Chouf Cedars and the upkeep of the Doumit Garden. It also vigorously supports health awareness campaigns for osteoporosis and breast cancer, while giving generously to St Jude’s Cancer Center. Al-Mawarid believes it is leading the way in promoting the message of corporate social responsible and elevating its profile within the community and the country as a whole.

Sponsoring Festivals and cultural events
Al-Mawarid believes in the role art must play in our daily lives and as such is involved in the sponsorship of many festivals, including those in Baakline, Mzar, Maasara, Hasbaya and Maten.

Encouraging sport
We understand the importance of sport in achieving a fully rounded education and Al-Mawarid has been active in organizing nationwide football and basketball tournaments that attract schools from all over the country.

As part of our ongoing commitment to helping beautify Lebanon, Al-Mawarid recently laid the foundations of a fountain in Batroun

Contributing to educational life
Al-Mawarid plays a pivotal role with various universities and associations to improve and develop education. It does this by participating in job fairs and by encouraging further education and career development. Al-Mawarid has also established a free Internet course for customers who want to learn more about this exciting technology, one that has become part of our daily lives.
